Tax and Spend Democrats At It Again in New Hampshire

I’d like to say that this surprises me but it doesn’t.

THE STATE budget for the current fiscal year is running a surplus. That should be no surprise. Gov. John Lynch and the Legislature raised taxes last year so there would be more money to spend, and there is.

So far, the state has in the bank $46 million more than it needs to spend this year, with only three months to go in the fiscal year. Overall, tax collections are $76 million ahead of last year. So naturally, legislators are rushing to cut taxes.

We wish.

Instead, the House Ways and Means Committee has proposed hiking taxes and fees to bring in an extra $185 million. You’d think the state was in some sort of fiscal crisis. But no, the state has more money than it has budgeted: $46 million more.

When you have Democrats in as the majority, this is what you get. They simply CANNOT STOP SPENDING. It’s like a disease that they have. The more money they get their hands on, the more they want to spend.

2008 cannot get here fast enough so we can remove them from the majority and return the to minority status, where they belong.
