Harassed By a Pissy Little Red Squirrel!

So I was out walking some trails today, without my rifle as I was sort of trying to scout for land to hunt turkeys on. Since I didn’t have my favorite varmint gun, it was a foregone conclusion that I’d see a lot of red squirrels. Sure enough, I saw three of them within 20 minutes of walking down the trail I was on.

One of them was quite rude. You haven’t lived until a pissy, little red squirrel decides to berate you for being near his tree. They become quite bold and behave as though they are going to jump down out of the tree onto your head. The damn thing chattered and squeaked at me and I swear I could hear him saying “F*ck you! You didn’t bring your rifle, you dumb bastard! Ha, ha!”

Well I guess it was just his lucky day. Of course, I had my pistol but that would have been overkill for a little guy like that. ;)

I’ve uploaded a couple of the pics I took of him. He had no problem posing for my camera while he bitched me out for getting near his tree. The red squirrels really do seem more aggressive than the grays, I don’t remember gray squirrels behaving the same way.
