MOOSE LOTTERY DRAWING IS FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2007

CONCORD, N.H. — The annual drawing to select the lucky hunters who will be offered a permit to hunt moose in New Hampshire this fall will be held on Friday, June 22, at 9 a.m. at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department headquarters on Hazen Drive in Concord. Fish and Game will issue 675 moose hunting permits this year. The public is invited to be on hand to watch the excitement as the names are drawn. Winners are selected through a computerized random drawing.

If you can’t be there on Friday, tune in to radio station WTPL (107.7 FM, reaching from Nashua to the Lakes Region); radio personalities Peter St. James and Ken Cail will broadcast live from Fish and Game headquarters that morning from 6 – 10 a.m., with drawing results starting at 9 a.m.

You can also check results online – official lists of winners and alternates will be posted on the Fish and Game website http://www.HuntNH.com by 11 a.m. that day. (Please be patient; the large spike in web traffic on lottery day sometimes causes download delays.)

Those who attend will have a chance to purchase items from a new line of Fish and Game logo clothing, including tee shirts, camo hats, denim shirts and fleece vests – a great way to show your support for Fish and Game! The new merchandise will be available for sale outside the Fish and Game headquarters entrance from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 22.

New Hampshire’s 2007 moose hunt runs from October 20 – 28. All proceeds from the sale of moose hunt lottery applications and permits are used to support New Hampshire’s comprehensive moose management program, which includes education, research, protection and management. Moose season in NH is the same week that I’m hunting deer in North Carolina. If I pull a moose tag this year I’m gonna have to move my NC hunt back a week. Damn.

Uh oh. Yeah, sounds like you got a conflict Weebles!

    That’s a conflict I can deal with.

If I’m lucky enough to pull a moose permit tomorrow (as doubtful as that is), I’m gonna go moose hunting.

I can always move my NC trip … I don’t think the State of NH would change the dates of the moose season for me.

No moose for me this year!

I didn’t draw a permit. Didn’t make the alternate list either.

Oh well, it’s another point for next year’s lottery!
