No Cabelas in Hooksett?

I don’t know what the hell is going on but I find it extremely annoying that no progress is being made. I was looking forward to having a Cabelas in New Hampshire.

CABELA’S convinced Hooksett officials and voters to borrow $18 million to upgrade land near Exit 11 so the sporting goods retailer could open its first New Hampshire store there.

Then, wanting to lower its exposure, it asked to rework the deal to pass most of the risk to the developer. The town agreed, with 89 percent of voters approving $2 million in bonds instead of $18 million. Everyone was excited that Cabela’s was coming to town.

But, no, Cabela’s now says, we never said we were definitely coming.

“Our real estate team has been looking and continues to look for viable sites across the country, but I don’t believe we made any announcements beyond preliminary investigations,” Cabela’s spokesman John Castillo said last week. Translation: We never announced the opening of the Hooksett store, so don’t hold your breath waiting for it to open.

Shit or get off the pot, Cabelas. If you aren’t going to build in Hooksett then say so and be done with it. Maybe Bass Pro will come into New Hampshire instead.
