Massachusetts Sucks: Why I Left Massachusetts and Moved to New Hampshire

The Boston Globe is doing a story on why people are bailing out of Taxachusetts. I sent the reporter an email (you can reach him at dabel@globe.com if you want to share your own story).

Here’s a copy of my email:

I left right after Deval was elected. I knew the state was a goner at
that point, there was no hope left at all for any kind of substantive
change.

Here is what drove me out of Massachusetts and up to New Hampshire:

1. Totally corrupt legislature.

2. No accountability whatsoever on state government spending.

3. Corrupt politicians giving their family and friends high paying
state jobs that I and other taxpayers had to pay for.

4. Unconstitutional and corrupt gun licensing system that allows
police chiefs to arbitrarily deny or approve gun licenses. If the
citizen is denied (for any reason the police chief wants) then he/she
must spend thousands on a lawyer to take the police chief to court.
Police chiefs are free to put unconstitutional restrictions on gun
licenses (talk to Matt Carroll as I and other gun owners have talked
to him about this).

5. High taxes and the fact that the legislature refused to lower the
income tax to 5% despite the fact that the voters voted for that
change.

6. Nanny state policies that restrict individual liberty and create
new revenue opportunities for the state government to gouge people for
even more money.

7. No sunday hunting. Another ridiculous restriction on personal
liberty. Not to mention that it discriminates against jewish hunters
who can’t hunt on saturdays for religious reasons and are barred by
law from hunting on sundays.

8. Ridiculously high pensions for state government workers. Why should
I pay for bill bulger’s pension? Why should government workers get
things that private sector workers like myself don’t get?

9. Unconstitutional gun storage laws that unjustly restrict how gun
owners can store or move their guns.

10. Unconstitutional attorney general regulations on what guns can and
cannot be bought in MA.

11. Unconstitutional “assault weapons” ban.

There you go, let me know if you need more information.

Sorry Denis. If he calls me I’ll mention it but I was more focused on listing what drove me crazy about Massachusetts.

I’m considering doing the same… I’ve always known this state sucked, but it was my home. The LTC restrictions are the final straw; Preventing law-abiding (high)-tax-paying citizens WHO WANT TO LEGALLY OWN A GUN FOR PROTECTION against those who thumb their nose at the law with their illegal guns, because the local police want nothing to do with the problem until the dust has cleared and all they need to do is pick up the bodies, makes me ashamed of anyone involved in government and law enforcement here.

Hold on I’ll brb, gotta pay more taxes and get my constitutional rights denied, while on the drive over getting spit on and robbed by deval…

Oh. I’m not bitter at all.
