Pacifist Gays and Guns

There’s a thread over at Connexion about the murder of the Democratic official the other day. As you might expect it seems to have spawned a discussion about guns.

I didn’t bother posting in the thread but some of the comments are just really silly. Here’s one particularly choice one from somebody named Bruce:

“In the early 70′s, when gun control was the issue and people were yelling like you guys are about…my rights, and protect ourselves, and all those fear tactics, I said to my very REPUBLICAN parents, IF someone doesn’t stop this idiotic behavior of making it more than easy to own a gun, then, prepare yourselves for gun killings in your safe lives and on your safe streets. They, of course, at that time, thought I was just a liberal commie. My mom, 5 years ago, was sitting with me, and we were talking about whatever current gun slaughter had just occurred, and people were still saying the idiotic phrase, “guns don’t kill people…people kill people” and my mom turned to me, and said…You were exactly right 25 years ago… I didn’t believe you then, but now I see exactly what this stupid law has brought upon us all.

I have lived my whole life, in NYC/LA/the south/ and the north, and I have NEVER owned a gun. I only have ONE friend, who DOES own a gun. None of us have ever been threatened, or if we have, none have been shot or murdered. Not one!

As long as the NRA preaches their propaganda, and breeds their FEARS, then, everyone who doesn’t understand what happens when hate breeds hate, will only keep on saying the same things….basically, there’s really nothing we can do about it. But, there is! Besides, what I find obscene is that a gun is completely cowardice. I don’t know, but any of you who own one and need it for “protection” are just part of the problem, the HUGE problem that has escalated in the past 30 years, and…will continue. NOW, Give EVERYBODY A GUN, TRAIN THEM TO USE IT, and then…watch what happens next. Are you really that stupid that you think that this country will become MORE peaceful with more hand guns, assault rifles? This is such a tired argument.
Until this nation gets it…until they realize that a weapon of destruction that we almost worship, is what is killing this nation…then, it’s just going to keep getting worse and just a normal occurrence.
When are we going to really wake up and get that?
This is insane behavior, and insane behavior, just breeds more insane behavior. I don’t get where enlightenment comes from this. I don’t get where peace comes from this. It is just…insanity.”

Good lord, could he be more hysterical? Talk about being a drama queen and needing to lighten up. And I love how he blames the NRA for violence done with guns. Yes, Bruce, it’s all of us evil NRA members that are out running around killing people…because that’s what we do. Ugh. You almost don’t know where to start with this level of ignorance.

I’ll never understand pacifist gays that think “banning” guns will stop the crazies and that seem to have absolutely no understanding about the 2nd amendment and its importance in making sure that the government does not remove our individual right to self-defense.

If I have the time maybe I’ll register and post over there. There were some people in that thread (like this guy Reid) that were trying to post some sensible comments but the shrillness of the gun grabbers was pretty tough to get through. Kudos to those who tried though, they have more patience than I do.
