More Nanny State Attacks on Tobacco in Boston
The health nazis are out in full force down in Taxachusetts. This time they want to ban the sale of cigarettes at drug stores and college campuses in Boston. While I don’t support or condone smoking at all (it’s a filthy habit), this latest nanny state attack on it seems to me to be blatantly illegal.
How can you prevent drugstores from selling a legal product? And if this happens then what other products there will they be prevented from selling? Candy bars? Magazines (magazines are made of paper and paper harvesting might cause global warming, etc.).
I also take great exception at the arrogant and snotty comment of Barbara Ferrer, the “executive director of the boston public health commission, who said:
Barbara Ferrer, the executive director of the Boston Public Health Commission, said the action was not about being a nanny state. She said tobacco, a product with no redeeming value, belongs in the highly regulated category of guns and alcohol. “It is not enough to say eat well, exercise, and don’t smoke,” she said. “You have to promote the conditions that promote people taking care of themselves.”
I love how she lumps guns in there. You can always tell an authoritarian socialist like her. So ready to run everybody else’s life no matter what. These people make me sick.
No doubt this will pass but I wonder if the drugstores will do anything about it. A lawsuit perhaps? We’ll see.
Just another reason why I’m glad I left Taxachusetts. People like Barbara Ferrer won’t stop with cigarettes. Wait and see. She’s got other things on her agenda and the idiot moonbats in Taxachusetts will go right along with it in the years ahead.
