Turkey Scouting Fall 2008
Well I’ve finally gotten off my ass and gone out scouting some backroads for turkeys. To my delight I found a small flock on a dead end road. I even found a good spot to park my truck.
So I got out and decided to get a little practice in, I decided to scatter the flock (which is what you do in the fall and then you hunt them when they try to come back together). Well let me tell you something, scatting the flock is easier said than done!
The little buggers refused to cooperate! I took off after them, running up the road and they cut off into the woods so I cut off after them. They went deeper in and I followed relentlessly. Well at no time did the flock break up! They hung together like champs and I eventually had to break off the pursuit.
The turkeys won again! Damn them! Heh, heh.
Well I didn’t have any camo with me today as I was just scouting but I will be going back there and trying for a bird. After messing with that flock I went walking further down that road and found some gorgeous land over there and it wasn’t posted! OMFG! Fantastic! It really is nice and I bet you there’s a zillion deer in there too.
So it was quite nice to find that flock and some nice woods and fields to hunt them in too. I’ll definitely be puttering around in there with my bow. I may try for a few squirrels too if I see any around. One of them ran in front of my truck on another road but I missed him! Damn!
So have you been finding any turkeys this season? Squirrels? Deer? What are you hunting?

I am boycotting this add ridden blog until you come to your senses.
Your viewership just went down 50%.
Good riddance! Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Mr. Subscription. I guess we all can’t “go green” to pull in a few bucks eh? ;)
I have been experimenting with ad formats to see which ones work best. I replaced the larger one at the top with a small banner for now.
We’ll see as time goes by which formats work best.
