How Come Some People in New Hampshire Don’t Own Guns?
From time to time there are incidences of violence and murder here in New Hampshire, particularly in urban places like Manchester. I’m perplexed about why the victims in these situations don’t have guns to defend themselves. It seems strange to me that firearms are not at hand for defense of themselves and their families.
In New Hampshire you do not need a special license to buy a gun, you just need your driver’s license (though you do need and should be sure to get a conceal carry license if you are going to carry your pistol/revolver concealed).
Socialist states like Taxachusetts or moonbat-filled hellholes like California require ridiculous hoops that you must jump through before getting a gun but New Hampshire does not. But it seems that many people do not avail themselves of their lawful right to self protection.
Why is that? Are they people that have moved here from other places and thus do not understand New Hampshire’s fantastic pro-2A state constitution and laws?
From the NH State Constitution Bill of Rights:
“All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.”
I just don’t understand why someone – particularly someone who was in fear of being the victim of violence – would not buy a gun to protect themselves and their families.
Am I missing something here? Why aren’t the criminals the ones being killed and the victims the ones that end up safe and able to carry on with their lives?
Just to end this entry productively, if you are thinking about buying a gun for self-protection then be sure to do the following:
1. Take a gun safety class run by the NRA or other credible organization.
2. Learn the rules of gun safety and *strictly* adhere to them.
Here are some of the cardinal rules of gun safety, you will learn more when you take your gun safety class:
- Treat all guns as if they are loaded, all the time. NEVER treat a gun as if it’s “unloaded” as a day may come when you do that only to find to your horror and regret that it was loaded.
- Always keep the muzzle of your firearm pointed in a safe direction.
- Never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Never point the gun at anything you aren’t willing to destroy.
- Know what you are shooting at and what is behind it.
Since you live in New Hampshire there is no need to feel helpless or to rely on the police for protection. You have the power to protect yourself and your family. Use it if you need to.

Hey, I gave you a link in the sidebar, Mr. Greedy! ;)
I agree! I think that so many people feel stereotyped if they choose to buy and carry a gun as paranoid. I have my concealed carry permit and do carry on occasion, my gun is loaded at all times just in case. In today’s world even in my safe small town violent crime and drug use is on the increase and just last year the convenience store within walking distance of my house was robbed. If they had seeked refuge in my house they would have had a surprise coming.
While I don’t like the political direction that New Hampshire is headed in,I am proud of how we still uphold the second amendment here. I just hope it lasts.
Why don’t some people in NH have guns? Because they move from places like Taxachusetts or California in hopes of changing NH so that guns are harder to obtain, because ya know, NH is the cause of all of CA and MAs problems.
