Bedford New Hampshire: The Most Republican Town
Scroll down in this article to see the details. Bedford is, at this moment, the most Republican town in New Hampshire:
Bedford might want to add an elephant to its official town seal, somewhere between the weathervane and the historic buildings there now.
Latest figures from Secretary of State Bill Gardner’s office show Bedford is the most Republican town in the state. Forty-six percent of its 16,399 registered voters are Republicans, holding roughly a two-to-one edge over Democrats. The count is 7,545 Republicans, 3,938 Democrats and 4,916 independents.
Hanover, home to Dartmouth College, stands as a sort of mirror image of Bedford. It has the highest share of registered Democrats of any town, with just over 46.3 percent of 10,314 voters there. In Durham, home to UNH, 39 percent of 10,372 voters registered as Democrats.
A quick review of details from Gardner’s office shows New Hampshire’s nine of 10 cities are decidedly Democratic places. In Manchester, the 25,044 Democrats outnumber 19,195 Republicans and 24,035 Independents. But the city is surrounded by the GOP, which dominates in Auburn, Candia, Chester, Goffstown, Londonderry and Derry. Oh, and Bedford.
Laconia is the only city where Republicans hold an edge, by 660 voters among 11,099. Independents outnumber members of either party there.
It doesn’t surprise me that the cities tend more toward being Democratic. People that live in cities tend to become very dependent on government for quite a lot of things in their lives. And the Democrats tend to feed off of that and continually seek to expand government in cities.
I think it’s one of the reasons why so many large cities in America are such awful places to live. The Democrats become so powerful that the cities end up cesspools of political corruption and financial extortion. Just take a look at Boston, Chicago, etc. It’s always the same story wherever Democrats have overwhelming power.
Yes, I know that political corruption is bi-partisan. The Republicans have certainly had their share. But when it comes to cities it’s not usually Republicans who are in charge.

This is because Bedford has a good committee Chair and he worked his butt off to make sure we relected our slate of reps.
However, I don’t know where these people went wrong voting for that midget governor moonbeam that put us in debt to the tune of $1 BILLION.
Hi NH,
Do you mean Bedford voted for Lynch? That’s surprising. I would have thought the town might have leaned more toward Kenney.
Well you can check the actual numbers on their website at http://www.bedfordrepublicans.org/pdf/2008ElectionBedfordResults.pdf
How they could ignore this man’s fiscal irresponsibility is beyond me.
